RACE FORMAT
Each driver will get three timed runs up Coronet Peak (if time permits). After all drivers complete their allocated runs, the fastest 10 cars across all classes will advance to a special Top 10 Shootout for one final run to determine the overall winner, runner-up, and third place. All remaining drivers will be eligible for class awards based on their best time from the initial runs.

This demanding course tests every aspect of your driving skill with its combination of tight hairpins, elevation changes, and technical sections that require precision and commitment. For over five decades, this cherished event has drawn passionate competitors seeking to join the legends who have conquered this iconic mountain course. Generations have gathered to witness unforgettable moments and fierce battles that have become part of New Zealand motorsport folklore. Our 60 competition spots sold out in record time, and we’re thrilled by the support from every driver who has registered and joined our waitlist. Your passion and commitment to this event means everything to us as we continue to build one of New Zealand’s most iconic and beloved hillclimbs. A massive thank you to all our competitors this year we can’t wait to see you on the mountain. Let’s make November 29 unforgettable.

Stay tuned – if a competitor withdraws, waitlist drivers will be notified immediately to secure their race day spot. DRIVERs
- Minimum M Grade Competition Licence
- Approved Helmet
- Approved 2 layer FIA/SFI race suit
- FHR or Hans (not required but recommended)
- Motorsport experience required
CARS
We want to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators. All cars will be scrutinised to the standards outlines in the MSNZ manual
Quick Safety Requirement Checklist
- Racing harness or approved seatbelt
- Fire Extinguisher double strapped within reach of the driver
- Enclosed cars minimum half cage
- Open top cars must have homologated roll cage
- Passengers allowed in full cage cars at the discretion of the clerk of the course
- Remote scrutineering available in some areas
CLASSES
- 0-1600cc Class A
- 1601-2000cc Class B
- 2001+ Class C
- All Class D
- All Class CL
- All Class VCC
- x 1.7 for Turbo/Supercharger
- x 1.8 for rotary engines.
Vintage Car Club entrants are to abide by the regulations set out by the VCC. Information can be found here.
